AND IT WAS SUCH A RUSH
I guess it helped that I did the whole thing in my head in Sherlock’s voice
My train of thought/Mediocre deductions below the cut
On the woman in front of me in line:
“Hmmm, okay. Can’t be younger than 70, well brushed hair and perfectly applied makeup but sweater and jeans say mother. Married, obvious by the ring. Diapers in her basket but it’s not likely the baby’s hers, considering her age. She’s carrying several coupons, all, it seems, torn from different places. Grocery list is messy and she’s added some things, but the handwriting’s different. Someone elses list, then, handwriting suggests a woman and the fact that it’s print and not cursive says young woman. Probably the mother of the baby, and likely this woman’s daughter, since a communal grocery list suggests they live together. She’s got another child, though; this woman has turkey from the deli but also a separate packet of kraft turkey, not to mention the individual cheese slices and white bread means probably material for a child, babies can’t eat sandwiches, so obviously another kid, probably a toddler. She’s buying cat food, and lots of it- could mean lots of cats, but there’s only a little cat hair near the bottom of her pants and nowhere else on her person, plus it’s all of one color (white) so we can deduce she’s buying in bulk. Now considering how many coupons she has and how capable she seems it’s unlikely she’d waste money on cat food if she wasn’t completely certain of the brand. The cat’s are hers, then, means her daughter moved in with her instead of the other way around- A woman with two children moves back in with her mother means she lost her own place to live, probably issues with a boyfriend or husband.
…..And those are my deductions.
Did you read them in Sherlock’s voice, too? I hope you did.
